The Holiday season is a time when many network marketers make the mistake of not growing their business. They get into cruise control because of Thanksgiving and then the Christmas Season and they let themselves get lazy.
This is detrimental because our profession is all about momentum. If you let your momentum slow down, you’ll find that it’s harder to get restarted in the new year when you decide to take your business seriously again.
So what can you do to prospect when almost everyone is in holiday mode and not thinking about business?

There are a couple things that you can do to prospect and build your business even though it’s the holiday season.
1. Christmas Gifts
This is great technique if you market or sell any products that are appropriate for gift giving. Things like coffee, essential oils, face cream or energy drinks.
Don’t make the mistake of just spamming your product link on social media, email or text. Be professional about it and have a conversation.
You can call your warm market and offer them your product to buy for gifts. It might sound like this:
Is there anyone on your list that you want to get a gift for but you don’t know what to get them? I have some gift ideas that might be a good fit. Would you open to having a look?
If they say yes, then ask about the gift recipient and make some suggestions hut only if appropriate. Don’t be lazy and just send them a link.
The advantage of selling during the holiday season is that you get to expose 2 people to your product from 1 sale. If the gift recipient likes your product, then both the giver and the recipient may buy more or even become a rep.
2. Make Money For The Holidays
Many network marketers don’t prospect during the holidays because they are scared that people won’t want entertain the idea of starting a business at this time. Prospects may brush you off and say something like:
I don’t want to think about that right now, hit me up in the new year.
I don’t have any money (or time) to start a business right now, it’s too close to the holidays.
Since you are aware of these objections, prospect in a way that the objections become excuses to start a business instead of reasons not to do the business.
It might sound like this:
Are you at all open to making some extra money for the holidays?
When you ask the question that way, the holidays and buying gifts become reasons to start a business instead of excuses to wait until the new year.
3. Make Money In The New Year
Here is another way to prospect that I don’t mention in the video. This is a way of prospecting once the holidays have already started and you are well into the holiday season. It’s silly to ask someone if they want to make more money for the holidays especially if you are at a holiday gathering on Christmas Eve or New Year’s Eve.
When you are mingling with your friends and family at holiday get togethers, listen closely and at the right time ask them if they are open to making some extra money in the new year. Many people are often disappointed with how much money they made and they wish they made more. Most new year resolutions are about making more money so why not offer them a solution to their problem. It might sound like this:
Most people hope to be more financially successful next year. I know I do. Are you at all open to a side project so you can make some extra money in the new year?
Asking them a qualifying question like this is so much more effective and professional than trying to shove information down your friends’ throat about your “break through product” or “ground floor opportunity”. That sort of wording and language just turns people off.
Another popular new year’s resolution is to lose weight. If you happen to sell weight loss product then just ask your prospects for referrals. It’s simple and sounds like this:
Do you know anyone that wants to lose weight in the new year? I found something that’s very effective in helping people lose fat and inches.
These 4 ways of prospecting will help keep your business in momentum during the holidays so you can start the new year right.
