Success is not the key to happiness, Happiness is the key to success.
I was talking about this concept with one of my coaching clients and he misunderstood it. He thought that the quote suggested that you should settle and be happy with what you have. If you are happy with what you have then you will be successful.
He didn’t like that idea and neither do I.
Settling for what you have now is not the road to success, it will just lead you to regret and wondering “what if” later on in life.
Happiness brings you success
Happiness makes you feel better.
When you feel better you have more energy.
More energy will allow you to take the actions that you need to do in order to become successful.
If you are feeling depressed, you lack energy. You won’t be able to do the things you know you should be doing because you are just too tired. Even if you give your self a good kick in the pants and force yourself to take some targeted action towards your goals, you won’t be able to do effectively because you are tired.
However, if you are happy, if you find some things that you are happy about, if you do some things that you are happy about, then you will have more energy and you will be able to move into success more quickly.
If you don’t feel like doing the things that you know should be doing so you can reach your goals (like prospecting, writing that book, or making that video) then instead of just forcing yourself to do it, take the time to get yourself fired up and happy first.
If you force yourself to just do it, you won’t do it well. If you are in a bad mood when you are calling prospects, then how can you expect to be able to connect with them. If you are in a bad mood when you are writing or making a video, how can you expect to do a good job.
It only takes 2 minutes to get your spirits up and give yourself a boost in mood and energy: listen to some up beat music, watch something motivating or inspirational on youtube, dance, watch something funny. Do anything to get happy. It will be the best 2 minutes you’ve invested in yourself all day.
After considering all of this, it makes so much sense why gratitude is such an important part of the Law of Attraction. If you are grateful, then you can’t help but feel happy. When you are happy you have a boost in mood and energy and your are able to face the day with vitality.
In this video, I talk about how taking just 5 minutes a day to be grateful in the morning can change the course of your day. If you did this every day, it will change your life. Imagine that!
Don’t wait until you are successful so you can allow yourself to be happy. Be happy now so you can allow yourself to be successful.
Happiness isn’t the result of success, it’s a short cut to success!
