Life Just Isn’t Fair: A Story About Perspective

Do you ever wonder why some people “make it” while others don’t?
Those that don’t “make it” have excuses:
“I didn’t have any opportunity.”
“I don’t have the time.”
“I don’t have the money.”
“I’m too young.”
“I’m too old.”

It just seems that life isn’t fair.

A Story About Perspective
Clifton was one of the “Lost Boys Of Sudan”
He had no money, could barely speak english and found himself in New York City as a teenage boy.
He was alone except for his younger brother.

He had many disadvantages compared to others around him: he didn’t know anyone, he didn’t speak the language, he had very little money and very little education.

One day he had a life changing experience.
He encountered something that much of the world probably encounters on a regular basis, maybe even every day. It’s something that most people take for granted but Clifton thought was amazing…

He saw a fountain.

If there was fresh clean water just coming out of the ground in his home village, people would be excited! They would be singing and dancing around it because of all the life it would bring.

2 things astounded Clifton about this fountain.
1. It was there (obviously)
2. No one cared about it. People were actually just walking by without even looking at it.

Clifton approached the fountain with his younger brother. When they looked at it some else got their attention.

Not only was there fresh clean water coming out of the fountain but there was actually money in the fountain.

And still no one except for Clifton and his younger brother cared about it .

Clifton thought to himself, that America truly is the land of opportunity.

With this perspective, Clifton did not want to squander away this opportunity. I won’t go into the details here but he worked hard and became a very wealthy man. He has had 5 and sometimes even 6 figure months.

If Clifton could do it, (someone with no money, could barely speak english, little education and many disadvantages) why can’t others?

It’s not about your resources. It’s about how resourceful you can get.

It’s true that life isn’t fair. You have more than Clifton had.

Life is so rigged in your favor it’s almost like cheating.

I guarantee you this. People with less money, less time, less education and less resources have made successes in their life and they did not let their lack of resources stand in their way.

You have everything you need. All you have to do is believe and take action.

Create a great day!
