MLM Skills: How To Stay Consistent Everyday

If you don’t already know it, the key to longterm success in the MLM profession is simply to build one of the MLM skills of being consistent.

If you’ve read Jeff Olsen’s book The Slight Edge or Darren Hardy’s book The Compound Effect then you know that doing small tasks repeatedly over and over and day after day can quickly add up and become quite powerful. Each individual task might seem meaningless but when combined together with other “meaningless” tasks great things can (and will) occur.

Has this ever happened to you? You go to a team event, maybe it’s one of the monthly trainings or it could be your company’s global convention. You get inspired and fired up and you feel like you could take on the whole world! You go out and take big actions steps. The feeling only lasts a couple of days or a week and then you are back to your normal routine. Nothing really happened from those actions because you did do it long enough.

Consistency is more important than intensity.

That’s happened to me many times. It’s also happened to many of my teammates.

I would have been better off staying consistent rather than taking so much action that I burn myself out after only a couple of days.

Treat your business like a job
If you treat this business like a hobby by only working when you have time or when you feel like it then it will cost you money just like a hobby costs you money.

If you treat your business like a job and do something to grow your business everyday then it will pay you money just like a job pays you. Do you long enough and with enough intensity then it will pay you much more than a job ever could.

Stay Consistent
In a job, you are assigned tasks. If you complete the tasks, you get paid.
When I was a young boy, I had a paper route. My task was simple, deliver the papers. Sometimes I had to put inserts into the papers before I could deliver them.

If you want long term success then you must do something everyday that gets you closer to your goal.

This doesn’t mean that you can just study your company products or comp plan all day. Let’s face it, if all you did was watch videos and got educated everyday then how many sales and sign up’s would you get?

However if you prospected just 1 person a day everyday, you would eventually get some sales and sign up’s over time.

Most network marketers understand this but they still aren’t doing consistent action in their business.

Write It Down
I’ve used this technique to keep consistent and it works very well. . I’ve suggested it to some of my coaching clients and they are using this technique to stay consistent as well. All you have to do is write a list of what you’ll do for your business each day and then review your list each night. Make sure to put it in a note book put a date with each entry.

Your list could look like this:
1. Prospect 10 people
2. Spend 15 minutes reading a self help book.
3. Follow up with John, Bob and Sally
4. Do a presentation for Tim

If you make a simple list each morning and review the list each night, you’ll get very good at staying consistent and you will eventually build a habit. Eventually, you’ll start taking more action and your habit will grow bigger and bigger.

The tasks that you complete each day may seem to have no consequence but if you are consistent with them, you’ll eventually build an empire. This is something that anyone can do. You don’t need special skills or talents to complete these tasks everyday. This is one of the MLM skills that you need to learn and also teach to your team.

If you have difficulty staying consistent, try writing it down in a notebook every morning like I suggest. You’ll be surprised how a consistent you’ll get simply by writing it down. The reason why I suggest to put in a separate note book is because it will keep you accountable. It’s fascinating to track your activity and feel a sense of accomplishment for your actions as the weeks and months go by.
