This is the the 2nd week in a row that I’m doing a book review and it’s probably going to be a weekly occurance. If you have a book suggestion that you think deserves to be reviewed then let me me know by email me directly at Kenny@richdadinvestor.com.
Way back in the year 2000, I worked night shifts as a registered nurse at a pediatric hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. I loved that job.
I don’t remember the exact date but it was a quiet night and all of my patients were asleep. One of my colleagues was reading a book so I asked her about it. She told me the title and told me to read a passage from it. The passage was so captivating and I knew that I needed to get a copy of that book. I ended up buying the book and reading it the next night and wisdom in that book changed my life forever.
This week’s reviewed book is The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho.
This book is at the very top of the list as my favorite.
This is the book that really started me on the journey of personal development. It’s my favorite type of personal development book. It also a very engaging and profound story.
It’s about a young shepherd boy by the name of Santiago who travels from his home in Spain to Egypt in search for his treasure. Along the way, he meets many characters (including the Alchemist) who point him in the direction of his quest.
His journey starts with the search of material wealth to a journey of self discovery.
This is book that you will not to put down. I make it a point to read this book at least twice a year because of the lessons that I learn and relearn me and the clarity that the book brings me. I’ve given away dozens of copies of this book because it truly is the perfect gift.
I highly recommend this amazing book.
Amazing quotes from The Alchemist:
When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.
Everyone seems to have a clear idea of how other people should lead their lives, but none about his or her own.
Remember that wherever your heart is, there you will find your treasure.
People are capable, at any time in their lives, of doing what they dream of.
The fear of suffering is worse than the suffering itself.
