Early Morning Routine
Ever since I posted The Power Of Routine: How A Small Habit Completely Changed My Life , a number of my subscribers have asked me about my morning routine.
It’s something that has kept me focused, moving and motivated. If I miss out on my morning routine, I feel like my day just isn’t “right” and sometimes it takes me a little while to get caught up.
1. Lemon and ACV
The first thing I do when I wake up is have a a cup of warm water with juice from half of a lemon and 1-3 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar. There are a lot of health benefits to having both in the morning. I make sure to have it first thing because it’s supposed to raise my metabolism and I want to get it into my system before I start to really move around.
2. 100 Squats
Back in December, I saw a squat challenge. It was to do 100 squats a day for 30 days. It was difficult for me to start and I had to break it up into sets of 20 or 30. As of this blog post, I’m on day 75 of 30. I just kept going after the 30 days. Those 100 squats are usually done within the first 5 minutes of waking.
I do at least 18 minutes of yoga and stretching each morning after my squats. I use an app called sworkit to keep me on track.
4. Prayers, Affirmations and Visualization
After yoga, I do my morning prayers. I’m a Nichiren Buddhist so my morning prayers include chanting. After my prayers I take time to do my daily affirmations.
I also take this time to visualize. I use a creative visualization method that I learned from Vishen Lakhiani of http://www.finerminds.com/ to keep me on track.

The next thing I do is take just a couple of minutes to write down 2 things:
First, I write down at least 3 actions that I will take towards my dreams- This could include filming a video or writing a blog post if it’s about my business goals. It could include working out or talking a walk if it’s about my health. It could also include spending time with friends or family if it’s about my relationships.
Second, I write down at least 3 things that I’m grateful for. Gratitude just brings more blessings.
This Keeps Me Focused And Motivated
After I’m done doing these 5 things, I’m ready to start my day. I’m pumped, motivated and ready to be productive. I’ll have a healthy breakfast, get cleaned up and I start on the action steps that I’ve journaled on.
