The Greatest Salesman In The World
Sometime in 2004, I got introduced to a profound book. A book so profound that actor Matthew McConaughey cited this book as having changed his life. The book is written by Og Mandino and the name of the book is The Greatest Salesman In The World.
From Wikipedia: The Greatest Salesman in the World is a book, written by Og Mandino, that serves as a guide to a philosophy of salesmanship, and success, telling the story of Hafid, a poor camel boy who achieves a life of abundance.
The book is more than just a story, it’s a manual to create a better life. Within the book Og shares with us the 10 ancient scrolls of success.
Heads up: I’m offering a free audio mp3 so you can learn 6 Law of Attraction Life Hacks that will allow you to implement the Law of Attraction everyday in an effortless way.
It is a short book but if you read the book the way Og suggests, then it will take 10 months for you to finish. You are supposed to read 1 scroll 3 times a day for 30 days. Once that is completed, you go on to the next scroll. 30 days later, you move on to the next scroll and then the next. You keep repeating this process until you have completed all 10 scrolls. Like most readers, I didn’t follow the instructions in the book. Instead, I “cheated” and read the book the “normal” way from cover to cover.
The first line of scroll one is this:
Today, I begin a new life.
And that is what decided to do 10 months ago. I decided to begin a new life and read the book as Og had intended. And as I write this, I am now on my last day.
I learned a lot about life and about my self as I had the opportunity to spend a month with each scroll. Each scroll teaches a different lesson . It has been a fantastic journey but even though I have completed the book, my journey with it is not complete. Here in lies the genius of these scrolls.
The Hidden Genius
When I decided that I would read the book “properly”, I knew that I would have many ideas and lessons programmed into my brain. Og even says so in the first scroll.
As I repeat the words daily they will soon become a part ofmy active mind, but more important, they will also seep into my other mind, that
mysterious source which never sleeps, which creates my dreams, and often makes me act in ways I do not comprehend.
What I should have also realized is that the book would form a habit. The whole book is an exercise in creating good habits. How could you not form a habit if you do the same thing everyday, 3 times a day for 30 days and then repeat that process 10 times?
The only difference between those who have failed and those who have succeeded lies in the differences of their habits. Good habits are the key to all
success. Bad habits are the unlocked door to failure. Thus, the first law I will obey, which precedeth all others is – I will form good habits and become their slave.
While I read the book I decided to add more good habits into my daily life. Since I’ve started I now do over 100 squats each day, I also do 90 pushups and 120 crunches. I meditate for at least 20 mins everyday. I do my morning and evening routines everyday.
Now I’m done reading the scrolls. I always thought that I would be finished when I was complete but the scrolls are now a habit for me. They serve me so much that they are now part of my daily routine. I know that my life would not be as fulfilling or as productive without these scrolls in my life. So, just like all of my other good habits, I choose to continue reading the scrolls everyday. They are now a habit and non-negotiable.
This book more than teaches you good habits, it actually instills them into your life. And the changes in my life prove it.
Successful people are simply those with successful habits. ~Brian Tracy
