You might be too smart to succeed.
Growing up, I always thought that those that were the smartest and had the best grades were more likely to succeed. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case in the real world. There’s a funny saying that I learned being an entrepreneur that you may have heard.

C students end up hiring the B students and A students end up becoming teachers.

Now I know that isn’t always the case but it certainly makes us think about the success rate of “smart people” in the network marketing profession.

Brains And Grades Are No Necessarily An Advantage
It seems that smart people don’t have an edge in network marketing. If you look at the success stories in our profession you see that success is blind. The successful and high ranking individuals in all companies come from all different backgrounds and education levels.

The Critical Mistake
Most people think that you have to be smart to be successful in MLM.

You don’t have to be smart to do well in this profession.

All that you need to be successful in MLM is to be able to follow a proven system.

If you are a smart person try not to take offense. I was one of those that got good grades in school and it came pretty easy. I easily coasted through university and worked a job until I found network marketing. I thought that my book smarts gave me an edge in this profession but it was actually a hindrance.

Use The System
Your company has a system in place that very simple to use. It’s proven and it is so easy that anyone can use it to create success.

Smart people look at the system and make the mistake of thinking that the system is too simple to actually work. So instead of actually using and trusting the system, they try to improve the system or invent their own.

Working the system is what makes you money, trying to improve it won’t.
Here’s what smart people overlook:

If you use your time taking action and using the system, you make money. If you spend your your time trying to tweak and improve the system instead of taking action, you don’t make money.

Your company might not have the best system, there are things that can be improved with it. But one thing is for certain. The system is proven and it works.

Your company’s system isn’t perfect but it works. So use and trust it.

The people that are crossing the stage, advancing ranks and getting recognized at your company conventions are there because they used the system. They aren’t there because they tried to find a better way.

The people making money might not be the smartest but they are smart enough (or dumb enough) to trust and use the system.

Book smart people look at the system, think about the system and try to improve it.

Street smart people look at the system, trust the system and use the system.

Those that actually use the system make money.
