When it comes to MLM sponsoring, many network marketers make the mistake of thinking that a prospect will join because of the company. In the mind of the prospect, there are 2 more things that matter more.

When MLM recruiting or MLM sponsoring, people think that others will join for the following reasons:
they like the company
they like the product/service
they like the compensation plan
However that’s only the beginning and it’s a very small part of the actual decision. There are other reasons why people will or won’t join your team.
Some network marketers have learned that it’s more than the company. It’s about whether they like you or not:
“People do business with those that they know like a trust.”
It doesn’t matter how “ground floor” the opportunity, how the product is a “scientific breakthrough” even if you have the “best” comp plan. If they don’t like you, they won’t join you.
There are many authors that don’t have technical writing skills how ever they are best selling authors. It doesn’t matter if they are the best or not, what matters is that people like them and they like the books that they write.
Likable Network Marketers are successful than skillful network marketers just like best selling authors make more than best writing authors. It’s not just about skills, it’s about likability.
The Deciding Factor: Can they do it?
MLM sponsoring gets a lot easier when you put yourself in the shoes of your prospect and ask, “can I do it?”
You see being likable is so important however if the prospect doesn’t think they can do it, they will never join.
I remember when I was looking for a new opportunity, I found a company that I liked and I found a sponsor that I really liked as well. But looking at their system, I didn’t think that I could follow it.
It’s really too bad because it was one if the things that I wanted to like before I looked but I didn’t. I felt like if I joined, I would get left behind.
“Even if your prospect likes the company and they like you, they will not join if they feel like they cannot do it. Nobody wants to spin their wheels and get left behind.”
How do you make it look easy to duplicate?
When you are MLM sponsoring, you are training your new rep before they even get started.
At every step of the MLM sponsoring process, I ask myself, “Can what I’m doing be duplicated?”
Don’t appear too “slick”
When you are presenting, instead of doing a long monologue or a complicated white board presentation (appears hard to do) use the company tools like the power point presentations or the company videos (appears easy to do)
When you are answering your prospects questions, don’t get technical into the science of the product or the little nuances of the comp plan (appears hard to do) instead use the company tools like the product and comp plan videos or even better use your upline for a 3 way call (appears easy to do)
Don’t let your ego get in the way
Even if you know the answers and you feel like you can do a better job than the company tools or even your upline, resist the urge to answer the your prospects questions yourself. Use the tools and your upline to answer your prospects questions, it looks easier from your prospects point of view.
I am a nurse and I was in a health and wellness company and I was really able to explain the science behind the product however it puzzled me when people would not join my team. People that were cross line from me used my expertise to explain the product and they got sign ups but I didn’t.
Looking back I realize that my prospects thought this,”Kenny is a nurse, I can’t do what he is doing. I won’t be able to answer questions as well as he does.”
My cross line colleagues had prospects that thought this,”All Bob did was show my some videos and introduce to Kenny. I can do that. I think I will join.”
In the end while it’s important that you have a great company and especially that the prospect likes you, they will not join if they feel like they just can’t do it and will get left behind.
Create a great day!
